Can a Greek Orthodox Priest perform a wedding ceremony out of the church?

I’m in Australia & would love to have a garden wedding, but would also like a GOP to perform the ceremony, due to my religion. Has anyone else that’s Greek Orthodox been married out of the church with an Orthodox priest?

Generally no. You’ll have to ask your priest.

Any pagan preacher can perform your ceremony with the same usefulness as the Greek Orthodox priest you speak of. If you want a biblical marriage you will not have anything to do with such pagan churches.

You do need to ask your priest, who can give you a definitive answer. It’s a sacrament of the church, of course, and is more than the performance of a ceremony. It is an encounter of the couple with God himself, and should not be taken lightly. "Oh, I’d really like to take communion out in the sunshine with the birds twittering about…" "Confession seems so stuffy in the church. Can we do this outside?…" Well, maybe but … What?
