Non-denominationals are either Baptists in denial or they don't practice baptism, which is the only thing that makes sense because individual Baptist churches and even individual Baptists have a great deal of latitude on beliefs and practices such that the only thing they have in common seems to be they believe in baptism and are generally Christian in a broad (more or less unrefined) sense of the term.

"Non-denominational" is for wimps that can't commit to a denomination on account of one denomination or another getting (or rightfully earning) bad publicity. The problem in that sense for Baptists is that no two Baptist churches have to be alike (let alone two Baptists).

If you really think about it, before (supposedly) meeting Jesus, why the heck was John the Baptist baptising people in the first place?? So do Baptists even have to be "Christian" Baptists? It's THAT flexible.

So that's why I say most non-denominationalists are Baptists in denial. It's almost more non-denominational than non-denominational.

(No offense intended to those Baptists that think their Baptist church is the only one around. You got snakes? Didn't think so, but those are the ones that make the news…)

Of course, it could be that "non-denominational," if all of such churches I've attended (10 for 10) are any indication, might be named their own denomination with a name that appropriately describes "big entertainment corporate Christianity (TM)." Or maybe "Church of the Market-Researched Jesus." Or simply, "NEW and IMPROVED: Sunday morning entertainment!" (Kereoke, movies, and comedy fortified with added light preachy truthiness!)

Actually, even after all that they could still be Baptists provided they do the whole baptism bit…

If I may add….. The word "protestant" has become invalid because of the friendliness between most denominations and the Roman Catholic Church. Unless a denomination absolutely refuses to adopt or continue to honor Catholic beliefs, it's just a word. The only denomination left that seems to hold enough to claim this title is the Seventh Day Adventist church. Sunday is a Catholic myth once enforced on the pain of death.
I hope you consider a home church of some kind if your open to it.

Protestant churches are of a denomination, Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, etc. Non denominational churches do not follow or belong to any one denomination, hence the non part of the name. Christian non denominational churches tend to attract Protestants however.
