How did protestant evangelical ideas on the bible shape their ideas on slavery and responses to others?

We have a discussion for class tomorrow and I haven’t found a lot of information. Particularly we’re focused on white protestant evangelicals and their idea about religious authority. Also the others I mention are more specifically Mormons and Catholics. Thanks for the help.

The Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith had no slaves and said he was against this, but then contridicted himself when he got a hold of some Eqyptian burial rites and said he translated it, it was lost in a fire, he said that Moses had a book called the book of moses 7:8 which states that Cain (african Americans) have a mark on them, thus a contridiction of sorts.
Brigham Young took over and moved half the LDS crew to UT when Gov. Boggs order the Mormon exterminated in Missoiri, after that, no blacks joined the church nor did the churhc partisipate in the Civil war for the rights of slaves. Nor where they allows to hold the so-called Mormon Preisthood until 1978. When I was a Mormon, the war in heaven story stated that the black man sided with satan, the rest of dark skinned people were neutral and whites with jesus. They still have the curse of the Laminites/indians as well.
