What cross country training can i do in the summer for next track season?

Im going to finish my track season from spokane community college. Im going to lift and do cross country running in the summer to work my endurance. My coaches dont want me doing any sprints. Just distance running. What certain workout can i do that involves the whole cross country deal and so i can work my endurance for next upcoming season in the fall. I am a 400m runner.

Well, cross-country is all about long runs. If you have a background of distance running then you should be able to do at least 30+ and max out at 50/55 miles per week. This is only if you ran long distance before. Otherwise you should start at 10 MPW and max out at 30/40 MPW. All your runs should be at normal pace, with one run being at tempo pace. Also make sure you take rest days at least once a week, as over working yourself can lead to injuries. Good luck, and stay injury-free.

What is the most accurate version of the bible?

I am looking at a NLT (Chicken Soup for the Soul bible. A gift from my mom) and a KJV that I bought today.

Is there a version of the bible that is very accurate? I know there will never be a 100% accurate bible, but is there one that is close?

It is important to know that the King James Version is an (Old) English Translation of the Latin Vulgate, which was a translation from the original Greek.

Any versions that use the original Greek as their source are going to be less prone to error than a translation of a translation. There are many examples of King James translations where the translators just got it wrong. Now, I happen to like the NIV – it was a collaborative effort of many scholars using the original (and/or oldest) Greek Manuscripts available and when these old manuscripts differ, the NIV tells you so. The only challenge with the NIV is that it adds a LOT of words. The intent is to make it easier to read, but the translators did take some license that, in some cases, it could be argued they shouldn’t have.

If you want accurate, the Revised Standard Version (RSV) is good, it is just harder to read than the NIV and there aren’t many differences otherwise.

I hope this helps!

Speaking as a Christian it is difficult for me to forgive others who do me wrong?

Speaking as Christian it is difficult and or takes me a long time to forgive others for what they’ve done to me. How can i become a better forgiver?

i don’t know what to tell you, except to pray about it. i tend to let things go right after they happen. i don’t know for sure how i got to be this way…lol. i don’t usually stay mad for long and don’t really hold grudges. maybe that’s it… i can’t stand animosity and always try to resolve conflicts immediately. i tend to fret if i have angry feelings over something… and i hate that, so i give it to the Lord. the Bible teaches that we should pray for our enemies.

now, having said all that, i still struggle with forgiving the scum who murdered my brother-in-law. :( . it happened 10 years ago and even though i’ve prayed for him many times, sometimes those hateful feelings still surface. he’s shown no remorse. i know that shouldn’t matter, but he’s such a skanky scumbag. he tried to grab a cop’s gun after his guilty verdict. my husband said that was just so the guys in prison (who saw him on the news and knew he was coming to prison) would be afraid of him. maybe that’s what it was. i don’t know, he’s an angry, vicious person who also threatened my husband in the courtroom. he was happy that he killed my brother-in-law. i know i’m wrong for feeling this way about him. maybe some day i won’t feel this way anymore, but i don’t want him to go to heaven. i want him to be punished eternally :( . sometimes i think i’ve forgiven him, and then i realize i haven’t. it’s hard.

How come the Christian god didn’t invent the Christian hell concept until the New Testament?

If any Christians want to argue that the Christian hell concept existed in the Old Testament, don’t argue with me; argue instead with the Jews whose people wrote the Old Testament. They know their ‘holy book’ doesn’t contain the Christian hell concept but you believe it does, even though it is their book that they have been reading and interpreting it for thousands of years in their own language.

The concept of hell you speak of-if you mean a fiery eternal place of torment-isn’t Christian.

The book of Revelation chapter 20:13 (King James Version) says this"And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them; and they were judged every man according to their works."

How can a person be dead in hell yet be burned alive?

Also, if the soul is immortal-as Christendom teaches not the bible, the Bible says the soul is mortal Ezekiel 18:4-how does a soul that leaves the body at death burn?
Hell is mankind’s common grave.

The ancient Jews knew people died, and were just that dead ,as the Wise King Solomon stated at Ecclesiastes 9:5, and 10. "For the living are conscious that they will die, but as for the dead they are conscious of nothing at all……………

and 10 "All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol the place to which you are going."

When reading the Bible, How do I know when something is symbolic and when it is literal?

I noticed that interpretation is what seperates most Christian religions. So I want to know how people make the distinction.

If it doesn’t make sense do I just say it’s symbolic? Isn’t that just like altering the bible to make it more believable? Please help me understand.

Here’s an excellent essay on how to interpret the bible …

What is your opinion that supreme court has no protestant supreme court judges?

Currently there’s 6 Catholic and 3 Jewish (1 would be the replacement) consider they had the power to shake religion impact in the country, yet there’s no one represent Protestant. 51% of american are protestant, 23% are cathoic and only 1% are jewish.

first of all, stating the name of the country you are referring to might help. (although since you are ignorant of the fact that this is an international forum, im guessing you are from the u.s.)

secondly, i am very glad the u.s. is a secularized country and no one has to give a crap about the religion or denomination of judges

How do you become excommunicated from the Catholic Church?

I have a friend who was raised Catholic and thinks it would be really funny to have a letter from the Catholic Church stating that he is excommunicated. So do such letters exist and what is the easiest way to get one?

For all practical purposes a simple lay person will never actually be formally excommunicated and won’t ever get a letter.

It is relatively easy to incur an automatic excommunication – assisting someone in procuring an abortion would do it for sure, but no letter.

Formal excommunication is used primarily for theologians and clergy who teach heresy. Even then, they need to do it pretty publicly to get attention, and then there will be reviews and hearings and advocates etc. It’s a long process.

Formal excommunication could conceivably and possibly may be used on prominent Catholic politicians who support abortion. But one major reason that hasn’t been done so far, is that typically lay people who don’t have Phds. in Theology haven’t been excommunicated formally in decades.

Sorry

What are some Bible verses about empowering others?

Hi, I was just wondering what are some Bible verses about empowering others? As in encouragement, support, etc. Thanks.

You could look up all the things that the bible says we are (more than conquerors, the righteousness of God in Christ, loved, bought with a price far above all, healed and whole etc) And start confessing them with the phrase attached "the bible says I am therefore I am [healed]" etc.
Get your list and give your friends the appropriate verse when they need it.

How do I return to being Catholic after having forgotten all the teachings?

I became Catholic at age 7. However, over the years, my parents took me to a Presbyterian church. I now want to resume being Catholic. However, at age 21, I have just about no memory of what I knew back then. Thus, How do I resume being Catholic?

If you are interested in rejoining or just learning more about the Catholic Church, contact your local parish and ask for information about their RCIA Inquiry group.

You can go and ask any questions you want.

This is the first step in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) but you can stop at any time.

There is no obligation to become a Catholic.

Some resources: http://www.archdiocese.la/evangelization/rcia/index.php

With love and prayers in Christ.
