How to remove the grey box around a desktop icon?

I accidentally clicked something cant remember what, but now all the icons on my desktop appear with grey boxes around the text underneath the icon. It’s kind of annoying not the end of the world but could someone help? Thanks in advance.

Ps. It’s not the case where you just click and it goes away.

If you right click anywhere near the middle of the screen and left click on “properties” and then the “apperrance” tab. You can mess with the fonts and on the “desktop” tab you can mess with the wallpaper. The fonts must be clear or close to the same color!
