How to recover the speaker icon on task bar?

I have the Window XP and I lost the speaker Icon on the Task bar (right bottom). I checked in the control panel that I still had the check mark on the speaker "Place a icon on task bar". Can someone help please. Thank you.

Right-click on the task-bar, go to Properties, then click on Customize in the lower panel, then select the Speaker icon, and then change it to - Always Show.

I had the same thing on my acer.
If all you want is the volume speaker then Gagan has
    the right answer.
But if you want your sound manager program you may have closed it and not just removed the icon.

I had to type "acer" in my control panel to get it back.
( Acer HD audio sound manager)

    What make is yours??

Check your hard drive to see if it contains a folder named i386

    You can find it here: Start> My Computer> (C):> Windows> i386

If you do have an i386 folder open it and switch to list view. (View> List)

Look for a file named SNDVOL32.EX_

Copy and paste it to your desktop then rename it to sndvol32.exe

Cut and paste the renamed file from your desktop into your system32 folder here:

    Start> My Computer> (C:)> Windows> System32

Then reboot. That should have sorted it…

If there’s no i386 folder get the file from the link in my answer here:

Go to your control panel and run the system sounds box. Check the box that says show icon in task bar.
