How do I remove new icon from task bar? The icon is a red worm on a octagon shaped background.?

The icon (pic of worm) appeared 3 months ago. Right click does not delete the icon. Now I have a vertical line in the middle of my screen and my pc is slow. Could the sluggish mode and the line on screen have anything to do with the new icon? I have windows 98 old pc.

try ~press all at the same time~Ctrl>Alt.>Del this brings task manager up.
click on processes ,the second tab .find the one you want to delete.
click on it then click on end process.
you should now be rid of it.
to speed up your system.
download “ccleaner”(yes 2 c’s)run it .it will clean out all the temp files and cookies left behind due to browsing the web.it will give you some memory back as well.
you could also try download “jkdefraggui”and run it .it is the best defrag program i have found.it may take 3hours the first time you run it.i sugest you run it over night with no other programs running.
this will help speed your PC up and should also gain you some memory.
hope this helps.
