How do i completely remove the shortcut symbol from an icon?
I’m doing this little prank thing that won’t do anything bad to peoples’ computers but will really annoy them. But first i need to know how to completely REMOVE the shortcut symbol from a shortcut icon so that even if somebody downloads the icon the shortcut symbol will no appear. Can anybody help me?
Go to Start, then Run, enter, Regedit, hit OK Navigato HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTInkfile. Delete the IsShortcut registry value.
You may have to restart Windows XP

you must first have an icon with no shortcut symbol. simply right-click the file(shortcut), then click properties then click change icon. then browse it to your image/icon with no shortcut drawing.. it’ll change! simply as that.. enjoy

This can be done at the user-interface level with "TweakUI"–but not via a downloadable program, as it’s a function of the user interface, not the individual program(s). Unless you have direct access to the "victim’s" PC, I don’t think that you can do what you want.
