What should my cross country training be for 5 weeks?

Hello there, I am wanting to participate in a cross country at college in 5-6 weeks. I am 18 years old and relatively fit, however I do short distances better than long distances. What should my training schedule and diet be? I have access to a treadmill, trails, beach running and surfing as well as basketball courts. Any routines and suggestions are most welcome.
