I do not think that there is anything wrong with them. They have just as much right to set their own rules as any other institution. If you don't like it, then there are a lot of other schools to attend. Why does everyone always feel the need to beat up on Christianity? Furthermore, I think it narrow-minded of someone to assume that others would attend such colleges in order to avoid meeting anyone different from themselves. I don't think that there is anything wrong with wanting to meet and socialize with people who share the same beliefs and values as you. Its like joining a club for people who share a common interest/goal (i.e. a comic book club, MENSA, PETA etc.). That doesn't mean that you never want to socialize with people who are different.

While I wouldn't likely attend any of these, why wouldn't they have the same right to teach their agenda as any other private university?

I'm not sure Liberty is in the same restrictive class as Bob Jones (they may be) and you left Pensacola Bible College (probably the most strict) off your list.

Actually, some of the military colleges have even more restrictive policies but for a different reason.

Fact is though – people that pick these colleges know what they're getting into (or should know) when they apply. If that's what they want in an educational experience then more power to them.

Add: Eri, Liberty is accredited by SACS and Oral Roberts is accredited by NorthCentral. These are regionally accredited colleges. Liberty and Bob Jones are accredited by TRACS (national accreditor). All three issue accredited degrees.

Yet, people go to these institutions, indicating that there is indeed a need for them. If someone wants to build a PRIVATE university, and set their own rules, who are you to decide that they should not exist? Instead of decrying their existence, why not just focus on your own experience, and if others wish to live a 'puritan' lifestyle, let them do so in peace, unless of course you are some sort of radical fundamentalist who believes that everyone should believe as you do, in which case, I know that there are countries in this world that will gladly accept you.

They're free to build them, and to teach whatever they want, and free not to give accredited degrees as a result. I think it's sad that people actually attend them – talk about not getting out much. They're making sure they'll never encounter someone who's not exactly like them – because those people get kicked out. College is supposed to be a learning experience, both in and out of the classroom – meeting people from different cultures, different backgrounds, and with different religions (or no religion) and points of view. The way they try to control the lives of their students – in and out of school – is scary enough; even scarier is that the students would let them do it.

I remember finding Liberty University on a college search a few years ago and I was like, “WHAT THE FUCK???” lol

Anyhow, I say to each their own. I think that such universities should be allowed, HOWEVER, I don’t think that it should be legal for these colleges to essentially spy on their students. I don’t think that any university officials should be allowed any sort of special permissions as far as privacy goes. Rules, sure, whatever. But it’s the student’s privacy that I have an issue with.
