Evangelism is to share the word of God with the purpose of making disciples of Christ.

Some denominations and churches have an office of Evangelist. So your friend is right that it is a position.

However, many denominations are considered evangelical in general so you are right also. Evangelical churches, Christians and denominations adhere to the Great Commission which Jesus commanded in Matthew 28, see the quote below.

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20 (NASB)

Spreading belief
I don’t really like evangelicalism that much.I feel everyone has the right to worship as they fancy.Yeah I try to lead people to Christ,but I don’t cram it down their neck.

Evangelical Christian means a Christian who believes in sharing their faith (evangelism.) Christ commanded us to witness to others.
