What is an Evangelical Christian? and What does the term Evangelical Christian mean?
Maybe you guys can help my friend on I work this out. He says that the term Evangelical Christian is a station such as pastor or missionary in protestant churches. I have always thought the term Evangelical Christian had something to do with someone denomination. (Like saying someone is a fundamentalist)
So What does the term Evangelical Christian mean?

evangelical means you have a mandate to impose yourself on others’ beliefs because what we believe determines where we go when we die. this is evangelical christianity in a nutshell

Spreading belief
I don’t really like evangelicalism that much.I feel everyone has the right to worship as they fancy.Yeah I try to lead people to Christ,but I don’t cram it down their neck.

Evangelism is to share the word of God with the purpose of making disciples of Christ.
Some denominations and churches have an office of Evangelist. So your friend is right that it is a position.
However, many denominations are considered evangelical in general so you are right also. Evangelical churches, Christians and denominations adhere to the Great Commission which Jesus commanded in Matthew 28, see the quote below.
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
