How would you bring a hypothetical Christian to atheism?
This isn’t an request for help so much as a "what-if" question. If you were to encounter a Christian in a calm setting on friendly terms, with a reasonable amount of time and with the goal of "converting" them to atheism, how would you go about doing so? (Obviously, there are loads of Christian sects, and "Christian" is fairly generic. For the sake of the question, Catholic or Protestant would be good starts.)
In a similar vein, if you’re religious: How would you bring an atheist to Christianity? How would you convert a Christian to Judaism? Islam?

Conversion is the role of the religious not mine. Stay out of my life, desires and goals said the atheist to the Christian.

I wouldn’t. That’s something they have to do themselves, if they choose.

As a Christian, all I can do is talk to my friend about Jesus Christ and show them the love of God through my deeds. I can only plant the seed.

That would never be a goal of mine.
It’s not for me to convince anyone of my own beliefs, as I expect that nobody tries to convince me of theirs.

I’m not interested in converting atheists to Christianity. It isn’t for everyone (even though all are welcome).

I doubt I’d try, but if I were to, I may have them read science textbooks.
Or, we would go through the Bible analytically, focusing upon time lines and discrepancies in the message.

Atheism is a religion now?
How would I bring one to Christianity? I would answer their questions the best I could, the rest is between the person and God.

It’s quite difficult to "convert" someone to a different set of beliefs (another religion) or to no belief (atheism).
The problem is that religious people have been taught to always deny what does not match with their religious beliefs. If you suggest something contrary to their belief, they will disagree. If they see you are actually right, they will say "well God wanted it that way".
For example, if you explain evolution to your friend and show him/her the huge amount of evidence in favor of evolution, he might eventually agree, but will likely say God is responsible for starting the evolutionary process.

Demonstrate how evolution predicted that one of our human chromosomes would be a merged version of two chromosomes belonging to other apes.
Decades later, we finally decoded both a full human and a full chimpanzee strand, and we pinpointed the exact spot on human chromosome 2 where the merger took place. We also found two centromeres and four sets of telomeres, as predicted.

I’ll have to answer your question with a question….why do you want to convert someone? what are your motives and where do they lead?

I have changed the minds of several people, the most effective way, is by reading the bible with them.
Once they see whats really in there, they start to question the reliability of faith, and eventually come to the same conclusion I did when rejecting Christianity.
Honestly, I am fine with people adopting religous belief, as long as they don’t use it as an excuse to accept immoral philosophy.

Brainwashing both ways.
As an atheist I would point out the inconsistencies in their beliefs, their holy book and in Christianity.
Other way around – point out that not thinking is a fuckload easier than thinking

I don’t "debate" Christianity with anyone. If someone not of the faith finds something attractive in the way I conduct my life, well, then there is an opening for a conversation.
Not for conversion, mind you, but simply laying out why I live the way I live.
If they have questions, I will answer them. The rest is not up to me.

for christian to atheist it would depend on their faith.
I don’t mean the doctrine faith but their strength of their belief.
if they are connected to their soul it would take a catastrophic situation repeated over time. Even then it would have a doubt-full outcome.
in my mind it is easier to make a athiest a gnostic(not agnostic). then connect them to their soul. The rest is history.
Soul is love
soul is strength
soul is eternal.

Atheists shouldn’t try to convert. However foolish we may think a person’s views might be, they are entitled to have them. Argue with them when needed, debate them always, ridicule them when they deserve it, but don’t try to convert them. Logic and reason should be the motivations for a person to become an atheist.

Why would an atheist try to convert a Christian? Because they vote on the side of morals and are corrupting our society? Because they have a reason not to kill, murder, etc.?
