Why some authors in the Catholic tradition remain unafraid of contact with other religions and world views?
Explain why some authors in the Catholic tradition remain unafraid of contact with other religions and world views. Think about basic principles, such as ‘unity’, from Pieper, Dulles, De Lubac, and Newman.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. (Matthew 29:19-20)
The mission of the Church is to proclaim and establish the Kingdom of God begun by Jesus Christ among all peoples.
This mission cannot be accomplished by not talking to or being afraid of the people of the world.
It is also a bit hard to not contact the other people of the world when 1 in 6 people in the world are Catholic.

Because they are afraid that if people study other religious traditions, then they will become independent thinkers and will be less controllable by the Church. Sorry to be so critical of Catholic authors, but I was a Catholic for awhile and went on to become a Buddhist later as I could not tolerate their attempts to quash independent thought.

Because they Know that the truth, is not a debate that can be defeated with protestant half truths. The bible is the catholic book. Why fear?

Ditto on one Holy Catholic and Apostolic church!
Also we pray in the Our Father for His Kingdom to come…….not many Kingdoms, but one Kingdom. We pray for unity, and we can’t have unity without dialog.

When you have both Christ and the Truth on your side, you need not be concerned about anyone or anything.

Does not the Bible teach “perfect love casts out all fear.”?
With that in mind, what is there to be afraid of in consorting with people from other religions?
