Can I have catholic priest or deacon witness a wedding in a non catholic church?

I am catholic and my fiance is methodist. We are getting married in a non catholic church. And I didnt know if I could get it witnessed under the Catholic church.

He can witness it as a friend, but not as an official of the Church.

As a Catholic you should be married in a Catholic Church. The local bishop can permit a wedding in another church, or in another suitable place, for a sufficient reason. You need to talk to a priest to find out if you meet the criteria for the "sufficient reason."

I think it can, but you might want to ask the priest to be sure.

It can be done, but will they do it? Last Priest I talked to told me that if I wasn’t Catholic, I was nothing.

If either one of you is serious about your faith you are headed for a life of misery. An "unequal yoke" always ends up with problems.

The best thing that you and your fiance could do is forget about being "Catholic" or "Methodist" and confess your sins and place your trust in the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then find a Bible based non-denominational church where you can worship and grow spiritually.

If you choose not to do this it would be better if you called of your relationship and find someone that shares your religious beliefs.

    Sincerely,

What you need to do is get dispensation to marry in a non-Catholic church. Then your marriage will be considered valid. Consult your priest – he can help you out. Although they may require you to do some additional premarital prep in the Catholic Church as well, since Methodists do not consider matrimony to be a sacrament like Catholics do.

All you need to do is get a "Letter of Dispensation" from your local Bishop. This in essence gives you the ability to marry outside of the Catholic Church.

Nevertheless, I would highly recommend you marrying in the Catholic Church, so that you can receive the most important part… the EUCHARIST…
