Its moral advice is summed up in the Golden Rule: “All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you also must likewise do to them.”—Matthew 7:12.

It forbids taking interest on loans, it says you should respect all religions (in Malachi), it says there is no afterlife (Ecclesiastes) and it says there should be a Jubilee every fifty years during which no work should be done and all debts cancelled. It depicts and condones two loving relationships between people of the same sex (David and Jonathan and Ruth and Naomi). It forbids boiling a kid goat in its mother's milk and the wearing of mixed fibres.

The single most important thing to know when reading the bible, is that it is a 2000 year old work of fiction, written by some men in order to create a religion and control a population of illiterate sheepherders. The fact that these men TOLD everyone that the stuff they were writing was essentially dictated by "god" makes it even MORE important to remember that they basically made everything up or stole it from earlier writings.
