    Traditional marriage in the Bible?

Like, between one man and as many women as he can afford?

I have no inclination to be involved in a polygamist relationship. Therefore, I'll never have a Bible-like marriage.

I am thankful to say that I am. Unfortunately, most of the people I know are not happy in their marriages.

    0. They're illegal today.

Many people in the Old Testament were polygamists including Abraham, Solomon, David, Jacob, and Moses…

Then culturally at 1st century AD you would marry your closest non-immediate family relative (aka first cousin) and they were usually teenagers.

The main thing to remeber is what Jesus said about marriage at the opening of Sinai´s most holy shrine " Do not unto those who celebrated the sanctity between a husband and wife but unto those who shall not foretell what has transpired."

My parents lived together for 18 years, then they decided to get married, was it Bible like,? I am not sure, but that lasted only 11 month, they got divorced, and now they are back to living together…

God's Ideal was two virgins marrying for life. My marriage is such at 35 years. My parents were married 48 years until he died. There is a couple in our church married 60 years and another just celebrated 70 years. I know a lot of people in Godly marriages. God Tolerated multiple wives, it was not and is not his ideal. Adam and Eve…..

Are you talking about Jesus making more wine at a wedding party. When you find in the bible where it lays out the rules of marriage, let me know.

    Abraham married his half-sister Sara.
    Nachor married his niece Melchor.
    Lot married his daughters.

I married someone who wasn't related to me.

What is a traditional marriage form the bible? Like the man takes care of the family financially and the woman takes care of the family otherwise? Like she stays at home and cares for the husband and children? I only know of one family like that

Something is defined by the one who created it. Even though others may come along later and find different uses for it, that doesn't change what it was meant to be used for. Also, in most cases, when something is designed for a specific use and it is used for something else, it results in inefficiency at best.

Marriage was created by God and therefore defined by God. He defined marriage in Genesis 2:18-25 as a covenant (an agreement or contract) between one man and one woman who are joined together by God for the purpose of helping each other do the work God had for them to do. Jesus (God, the Son) repeated this definition in Matthew 19:4-6 as did the Holy Spirit (God, the Spirit) in 1 Corinthians 7:1-9 through the words of Paul. Over time, people have tried to find new uses for what they describe as marriage. At best, their attempts to improve upon God's defined and blessed marriage fails miserably. It doesn't matter if it is a ungodly, polygamist, adulterous, homosexual, beastial or whatever else; they all fail miserably when it is compared to the arrangement God created, defined, and demands.

I am in a godly marriage and will be until the day one of us dies.
