It is not the word of god but the word of various male political figures throughout history. And the "word" has been massively edited, whole chapters ripped out, sections voted in/out so it is as far from anything a god bestowed as anything could be. Just remember, the name of the game was conversion. Conversion brought/brings in money and power. That has been the gist of that book from the beginning.
References :
You must remember that Paul was preaching to one church at a time and corresponded with the others as he went along, so that correspondence was widely circulated. Remember, too, that up until the Council of Nicea in 333 CE decided on the "official" canon that became the current bible, there were some 80+ gospels in circulation and numerous other writings including epistles from other sources than Paul. The gospels were written primarily to the jews. All of these were written by men and were designed to present a particular point of view. Since they did not cross-reference each other very well, there are a lot of contradictions in the writings, just as there in the hebrew testament.
References :
But those letters still apply to us today, not just them then. It is still alive and working today. Many could read these and say this is for me here and now.
If I say the law of gravity does not exist nor does gravity, it would be do to my lack of knowledge and understanding, like you do with the bible.
Lack of knowledge or understanding does not make something any less true or real. Or gravity would not exist.
take care.
References :
When Jesus was here on earth he taught the Jews. Gentiles were brought into the fold after Christ died and the apostles started teaching. Paul was writing to the early church.
References :
Jesus' message was just to a certain group also, the house of Israel, and yet the implications of that message, and the outcome of his actions, were for everybody. The same applies to the writings of Paul. Thanks for asking.
