How many christians believe that christmas is not a true christian practice?

I’m just curious. Taking a survey. When I say not a true christian practice I mean that it didn’t originate from christianity.

I’m a Christian, and am fully aware that Christmas has pre-Christian (i.e., Pagan) origins. I don’t have a problem with that. I’ve known this since childhood, and first learned about it in the Christian schools I grew up attending. It’s not as if it’s a secret.

How do I get the wireless icon on my quick launch taskbar?

I have windows Vista. My wireless icon is always usually on my quick launch task bar on the bottom right of the screen. But it dissapeared. How do I get it back?
Thanks :)

Either the icon has been accidentally removed from the notification area (system tray) – in which case you need to make sure it isn’t hidden when inactive
see here

sometimes, through no fault of your own, the system tray icon cache can become corrupted – here is how to clear and rebuild the icon cache – it works because I’ve had to use it!

Does believing the bible come with the requirement that people ignore and reject science?

Or does it depend on how literally one’s understanding of the bible is? You know, if one has a very literal understanding of the bible, then does one ignore and deny a lot of science and if one has only a slightly literal understanding of the bible, then one ignores and denies only a little science? But above all, if one has any belief at all in the bible being the word of a god, then one is denying science to some extent, right?

absolutely.

How much does a catholic church wedding cerimony cost?

My fiance and I are looking to get married in a catholic church. He is catholic and I am not. How much will this cost?

It varies but if you cannot afford it then it is free.

The Code of Canon Law #848 states:

The minister is to seek nothing for the administration of the sacraments beyond the offerings defined by competent authority, always taking care that the needy are not deprived of the assistance of the sacraments because of poverty.

This means that the bishop may set standard fees or ‘offerings,’ but all fees must be waived for the poor. This also means that the fees will change from diocese to diocese.

How did the bible know that earth is a circle? Way before people realized it’s an oblique sphere?

How did the bible know that the earth is a circle, a flat 2 dimensional shape? Way before we finally found out that the earth is 3 dimensional sphere thats’ buldging?

If bible is not the word of God, I don’t know what is.

In Daniel, the king “saw a tree of great height at the centre of the earth…reaching with its top to the sky and visible to the earth’s farthest bounds.” If the earth were flat, a sufficiently tall tree would be visible to “the earth’s farthest bounds,” but this is impossible on a spherical earth. Likewise, in describing the temptation of Jesus by Satan, Matthew 4:8 says, “Once again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world [cosmos] in their glory.” Obviously, this would be possible only if the earth were flat. The same is true of Revelation 1:7: “Behold, he is coming with the clouds! Every eye shall see him…”

how did Protestant Fundamentalism gain such populatarity?

I am a conservative Roman Catholic Republican from Chicago (as in Chicago, not burbs). I am astonished how Fundamentalism has swept through Protestantism and the Republican Party. I have som Protestant friends and family (mainline as in Lutheran, Presbyterian, Episcopal) and they seem to be at odds with the fundamentalist beliefs as well. How did this movement gain in popularity and has it weakened the mainline churches?

Just my conclusion that evidently you don’t see a
conflice between being a follower of Christ and
being involved in politics?

What political affiliatins did Jesus Christ have on earth?

Is there a Catholic chat line like the one on the Mormon website?

I’m curious as to whether or not there is an officially sanctioned chat line like the Mormons have on their website, but for the Roman Catholic faith. A place to ask Catholic experts/officials about Catholicism.

hmmm.. not sure about "sanctioned" – Not that I am aware of.

I found a few chat sites just googling.

http://www.catholicchatcity.com/

http://www.catholicity.com/

Don’t know how legit they are OR how active they are with participants, either.

forums.catholic.com is a forum site. Not exactly "chat" but you can post stuff and there are lots of people on it.

Anything tied to the EWTN TV Channel is official though. The Vatican helps subsidize EWTN. SO, if you found a chat site on their website, you could trust it. Since EWTN is a media channel.. it is more likely to have chat and IM sites.

Wish ya luck!
God Bless!
