What are the most important differances between Catholic and Baptist?

My fiancee's grandparents are very very catholic and I signed our daughter up for a weekly class at a Baptist church…her friend from next door goes there and will be in the same class.

What are the main differances between the 2 religons?

I am Roman Catholic.

One of the biggest mistakes protestants make about Christianity is denying that good works matter.
Read The Gospel of saint Matthew Chapter 7 verses 21-23.
Jesus Christ Himself said that we must do The Will of His Father in heaven in order to be saved.

Another big mistake is teaching "sola scriptura". That is Latin for "scripture alone". This is the false teaching of many protestants that The Bible is the ultimate authority of revelation.

The Church is the ultimate authority to interpret scripture. It is historical fact that the Church assembled The Bible. The Church existed before The Bible. One must admit that The Church is the ultimate authority to teach and interpret divine revelation, or one must say that The Bible was assembled by a group that had inferior authority to The Bible that it assembled. That would mean that The Church somehow endowed The Bible with authority that The Church itself did not have. That would be absurd. It is false.

The Church can not, and does not act in opposition to The Bible. But The Bible is not the ultimate authority. The Church is not limited to only the Bible. The Bible should be read in consultation with the 2000 year old Catholic Church.

About 500 years ago, protestants threw out several books of the Old Testament. They tried to throw out some New Testament books too, but they were not able to succeed in that attempt to abridge The Bible that they claim is the sole source of divine revelation. I think it is noteworthy that The Bible itself tells that there was a great deal more that Jesus did than what is written in the Bible. You can read this near the end of the Gospel of Saint John, Chapter 21, verses 24-25.

In actual practice, many protestants consider themselves to be the final authority in teaching what The Bible means. That is why they don't want to submit to the authority of The Church. I don't think that all protestants purposely lie about the contents of the Bible and the meaning of scripture. Many are merely mistaken about many Biblical matters.

I believe that many protestants are sincere in their love of Jesus Christ. I also believe that most protestants intend to be faithful to the teachings of Christianity. Unfortunately, when you leave the community of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, you leave the 2000 year history of Christian scholarship and theology behind.

Even though the main doctrine about Jesus Christ as our savior is the same among most Christians, we still have some very significant disagreements about some very important teachings. You can find a great deal of important information on the website of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (usccb.org) and on the website "catholic.com".

I hope, pray and trust that all of God's Creation will be reconciled to Him in eternity.

Peace be with you.

How is it possible for a Christian to become self-actualized?

How can the Christian man ever become self-actualized without laying down his religion; being in the belief that for God all things are possible, instead of in his own potential that for himself, in his own truth, all things are possible?

Most Christians don't believe that God controls every detail of each person's life. Instead, they believe that they should live their lives within the confines of their religious tenets while knowing that they will occasionally fail, and they willingly accept the consequences of their actions when judgment day comes.

So, any Christian can feel self-actualized within that specific religious context.

How can I build a cross country water jump?

I am opening a public cross country course at my ranch in West Texas. I would like to install a pond that the horses run through. Anyone know how to build one?

I just ordered a book called "Cross Country Course Design" from amazon, it's not here yet, so I can't look up an answer for you.

I know there are several titles out on building xc courses.

My guess is the main concern will be footing.

Know any bible verses about service to others?

I am 14 and in 8th grade. I am a Christian/ Catolic. For my confirmation at the end of this year i have to do a service project for my class. I have to look up 5 bible verses that have something to do with service to others. I haven't had much luck yet. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Here are several:

Gal 5:13 — For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Gal 5:14 — For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Gal 5:22 — But the fruit of the Spirit is LOVE, joy, peace, LONGSUFFERING, GENTLENESS, GOODNESS, faith,

Gal 6:2 — Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Mk 10:43 — But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: 44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. 45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Joh 13:14 — If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

Act 20:35 — I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Rom 15:1 — We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

1 Cor 9:19 — For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

1 Cor 13:4 — Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

2 Cor 4:5 — For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

2 Cor 12:15 — And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.

1 Thes 1:3 — Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

James 2:15 — If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

1 Jn 3:16 — Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. 19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

The Orthodox Church threatened to leave the World Council of Churches if a gay church joined. Thoughts?

One orthodox priest said "if we allow gay churches in [churches with gay priests in them], then what's next? The alcoholic church? The gambling church?". The council abided by the orthodox position.

Well, Sisyphus:

It's fine to be hot against sin, but the Orthodox church venerated statues and changed God's Sabbath many centuries ago.

So, whoever breaks the least of these commandments will be least in the Kingdom.

The Greek and Roman church will soon combine, though–as all churches unite to form a one-world church and combat terrorism.

The Bible code tells you who to fear: http://abiblecode.com

Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

How to know if Christian girl practices sexual abstinence?

I'm a Christian guy and am practicing sexual abstinence, I would like to meet a Christian woman doing the same. But, how can I know she is or isn't?

A lot of Christians, BOTH guys and girls, wear promise rings. By wearing this ring, they promise to be pure until marriage.

I would ask her. Tell her how important it is for you that your mate be pure until you guys are married. :)

How do I delete the youtube icon on my ipod touch?

I woulod like to remove the you tube icon and the stock icon on my ipod. They do not "wiggle" and I can't delete them.

Actually all the apps wiggle meaning that they can be moved but only the ones with the x in the top left corner can be deleted.
The stock (came with iPod touch) apps can not be deleted. However if you have a jailbroken iPod touch you can download an app called Poof which hides them at least.
